We all look up to leaders with integrity and I think that’s because integrity comes at a cost.
It takes courage to look out for your team and colleagues, especially if you’re in an environment that doesn’t value them as much you do.
In fact, when I was in a particularly toxic environment, the other leaders that were in the same boat and I made a commitment to collaborating even more closely and supporting our teams.
We knew that integrity towards our teams would last a lot longer than validation from a dysfunctional system.
Unknowingly, we were forging even stronger relationships with one another, with our teams, and with other leaders. These are the relationships that endured and continued to support my career years later.
